Marie Rosé - PortraitArtist Biography
Marie Rosé was born in 1970, which makes her thirty-something, though still feeling pretty much like a recent college graduate, just without the angst. Currently married, with three cats, she spends most of her time teaching 11th and 12th graders. Oddly enough, she doesn't teach art, but rather indulges in her scientific interests by teaching physics.

Never formally trained in art, Marie has taught herself over the years, doodling animals and people and aliens in the margins of notes, and practiced from art books and comics. Most of her work starts as pencil sketches which she scans and then colors.

Although she always intended to get studio space once she owned a house, between a sewing room/guest room and a basement woodshop, it never quite materialized.  However, in the last year, since getting a new computer, she discovered the joy of painting digitally. She does almost all her  painting in PaintShop Pro 8, though also owns and occasionally uses Painter, openCanvas and Photoship Elements.

Marie is a long time role-player. She has dabbled in a number of different game worlds including Star Wars, White Wolf, D&D, and a whole host of others of her  own making. She is a die-hard Final Fantasy fan and owns every game except XI. She also has a large library of science fiction and fantasy that she has all too little time to read. She loves Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter (and the movies are pretty darn good too.) Some of her favorite artists are Michael Whelan, Jim Burns, John Howe, Michael Parkes and Yoshitaka Amano.

Marie and her husband, Jason, live in a Victorian style house built by her great-great uncles in old Santa Clara, California. Jason breeds power tools in the basement for his woodworking projects, while she stays upstairs with the cats and paints from her own little digital studio.
